Richmond School Trustee joins movement, endorses Day
RICHMOND, B.C. – May 1, 2013 – Following consecutive weeks of endorsements from current City Councillor Chak Kwong Au and former Richmond City Councillor Sue Halsey-Brandt, respectively, along with a tidal wave of support over the last few weeks, Richmond School Trustee Rod Belleza has joined the fray in officially endorsing MLA candidate for Richmond-Steveston Carol Day.
Belleza has served as a School Trustee since 2008 and served with Day from 2008 until 2011.
“This is a time for change that you can trust,” said Belleza. “I believe Carol Day is the best candidate for Richmond Steveston and would make a very good MLA.”
Belleza was appointed as Chairman of the Audit Committee, Vice Chair of the Education Committee as well as the Personnel and Finance Committee, Board Representative to the Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement, Alternate Representative to BCPSEA and Trustee Liaison to various schools.
Dedicating much of his life to community service, Belleza has actively promoted values of inclusion, equality and integration in our schools and community and shared those same values with Day. He believes in delivering the best possible education to our leaders of the future and his mission has always been to ensure accountability within the Board of Education to meet education goals.
In acknowledgement of his dedication to serving the community, the Philippine Asian News and the Filipino Canadian Business Directory awarded Belleza for his incredible and outstanding community service.
Day announced her MLA candidacy for Richmond-Steveston for the BC Conservatives back on April 4 under Party leader and former Delta-Richmond East MP John Cummins. Halsey-Brandt endorsed Day on April 16. Au endorsed Day on April 22.
