To All Farm Land Supporters and the Richmond Farm Watch Team…
Congratulations on a great first event at the Harvest Festival yesterday.
FARM WATCH deserves our respect and appreciation as we work to save more farm land from Monster Houses.
This reminds me of the day we started the Garden City Lands group 8 years ago it was just 8 people sitting around a dining room table ready to take on the city to save the Garden City lands from Condo’s. At the Harvest festival I was so proud of our GCL team and the years of hard work we put into that effort , it was worth it !!!
In November the people of Richmond and Richmond Farm Watch will make their plea to further reduce the size of houses on Farm Land and the contacts we made yesterday along with the other supporters will make all the difference when council is asked to review the house sizes on farm land.
It gives me great pleasure to report that of the 43 Mega mansions applications that slipped in before the March moratorium, FIFTEEN have been cancelled. City staff denied the applications when the builders did not submit the required drawings, plans etc in time.
As the president of Kwantlen College stated yesterday at the opening ceremony ” Farming is COOL again ” and people have finally realised the importance of saving farm land.
Thanks everyone for your letters to Mayor and Council, your letters to the Editors of the local newspapers and mostly to all of the volunteers who created and work to further develop Richmond Farm Watch.
